Pedro Carrero, Trombone

Pedro comes from a prestigious family of musicians, most of them being trombone players. He starts playing trombone at th age of 8 studying with his uncle Pablo Murillo.

Pedro Carrero has taken part of muic courses and master classes with professors Michel Becquet, Antoine Duhamel, Indalecio Bonet, Lawrence Borden, Domingo Palgliuca, Bruno Flahuo, Carlos Gil, Olaf Ott, Jecques Mauger, Jaime Morales, Erich Kojeder, Miguel Murillo, Ben van Dijk, Khit Brow and Scott Hartman, among others.
In 1998 the Ministry for the Family and the President of the Republic gives the order ‘ Jose Felix Rivas’ in its Third Class in recognition of the work Pedro has done towards the culture of Venezuela. The same year he is decorated in his hometown San Cristóbal with the Order ‘Francisco Javier García de Hevia’, First Class. In 2002 he receives the Medal of Honor of the City of Sant Yreix, Limoges (France), together with his fellows from the Simón Bolívar Brass Quintet .
Thanks to his work as a musician and professor, Pedro has toured around America, Europe and Asia.
At present, he is the principal trombonist of the Simón Bolívar Symphonic Orchestra of Venezuela, conducted by maestro Gustavo Dudamel. He is also trombonist at the Simón Bolívar Brass Quintet, at the Brass Ensemble of Venezuela, and at the Caracas Brass Ensemble. In 2013 he funds the National Trombone Academy for the National Network of Youth and Children Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela.
